GAF Quality Assurance Technician III in Parsippany, New Jersey

Summary

The Quality Technician III is responsible for claim evaluations and conducts various testing activities and analysis on sample material. Communicates results effectively and reports meaningful and unbiased conclusions based on evaluations. Conducts specific activities in accordance with established laboratory practices and procedures. Leads and contributes improvements to the lab evaluation processes, Job Safety Analysis and Standard Operating Procedures. Leads laboratory maintenance and calibration of equipment. Leads and supports training for new hires. Assures all activities are performed safely.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Claims Evaluation:

  • Conduct warranty claim evaluations on a wide variety of roofing products to identify manufacturing defects and determine performance characteristics.

  • Conduct testing per established protocols and provide accurate data.

  • Analyze and summarize field reports.

  • Be a source of knowledge of product lines, lab evaluation processes, product specifications, and application instructions.

  • Communicate effectively with multiple teams such as Warranty, Sales, Field Services, R&D, and Manufacturing.

  • Identify quality trends and work cross functionally to improve the manufacturing process

  • Participate in studies and projects related to quality improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and report findings in a clear meaningful format.

Lab Functionality and Maintenance:

  • Lead lab maintenance and equipment calibration.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

  • Plan and execute assigned projects and prioritizes tasks through effective time management.

  • Assure all activities are performed safely per established safety guidelines.

  • Review and improve process flows and SOPs on a continuous basis.

  • Develop new test methods and improve processes

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Associate’s degree in STEM discipline is required, coupled with 3 or more years of lab experience, preferably in roofing or related manufacturing environment.

  • The candidate should have experience with test equipment, physical property, and the accompanying equipment.

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or other related field is preferred. Other degrees may be considered if coupled with relevant experience.

  • ASQ Quality Certification is a plus.
