Summary:

The Talent Development Manager is responsible for developing, refining, and executing a strategy for talent development at GAF, with a focus on leadership and management capabilities. In this role, you will shape the strategy and execute on leadership development training programs, executive coaching and manager assessments, and successfully manage relationships across a variety of stakeholder groups.

In this role, you will ensure development is aligned to talent management practices and philosophies, and that leaders are provided with the highest-quality, impactful development experiences (in-person and virtual) that drive internal mobility.

To be successful in this role, you will combine your knowledge of talent management and your skills in creating and aligning talent with business strategy. Your work will encompass deep and broad partnerships with HRBPs and leaders to assess and understand skills gaps to create and manage development programs that upskill for GAF’s current and future talent requirements. You’re a hands on specialist who collaborates, designs, evaluates and executes development strategies to increase retention and develop talent pipelines to benefit employee growth and mobility and deliver on business goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Development Strategy with a focus on Leadership and Management

  • Refine the strategy for continuously developing leaders of all levels at GAF by conducting ongoing assessments with various executive leaders, evaluating talent review outcomes and actions, and partnering with HR Partners,

  • Manage and refine the approach to executive coaching and leader assessments, all integrated into individual development planning

  • Identify capability gaps and design and execute leadership development programs with internal/external facilitators.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage senior-level and executive relationships relevant to the philosophy and approach to building great leaders at GAF.

  • Ensure that stakeholders have a regular process to provide input and feedback so that leader development aligns with key business priorities and goals.

  • Communicate frequently with HRBPs, program participants, coachees, and executive-level leaders to ensure alignment and involvement at all levels of leadership.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Proactively collaborate to deliver meaningful development experiences that address the evolving development needs at GAF.

  • Continuously lead and partner with program design teams, external and internal content experts, executive coaches, assessment providers, HRBPs, learning coordinators, and events planning teams.

Balance Between strategic thinking and execution

  • Lead in a highly connected way by flexing between thinking strategically about the needs of target audiences and key stakeholders while continuously optimizing the execution of development programs.

  • Continue to execute, evaluate, and improve upon program and participant experiences in alignment with the strategy for developing leaders at GAF.

  • Establish metrics that showcase the application of new skills, effectiveness of programs and internal mobility improvements overtime

Program ownership and outcomes

  • Own and drive management and leadership development that cultivates, engages, and develops GAF’s leadership talent to delivers best-in-class results.

  • Manage leadership program timelines, activities, budget, and spending.

  • Gather feedback and measure program effectiveness in alignment with talent strategy.

  • Manage the budget for relevant development programs - with a focus on Management and Leadership Development

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7+ years of depth and breadth of experience related to Learning and Development, Leadership Development, program management, talent management in complex multifaceted organizations.

  • Ability to travel 20-25%

  • Manufacturing experience

  • Experience in employee development with a concentration in leadership and management development and programs

  • Experience with personality and leadership assessment tools and subsequent 1:1 coaching and group coaching

  • Ability to influence senior leaders, collaborate and work effectively with colleagues across the organization, external partners/vendors

  • Self-starter with superior written/verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels

  • Influence and presentation skills

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills

  • Analytical skills with the ability to use data to assess, create, develop and execute people strategies

  • Excellent PC skills to include GoogleSuite, MS Office, learning design and authoring software

  • Experience advising and counseling employees & managers

  • SHRM certification or ATD certifications CPTD, APTD preferred

  • Ability to travel 20-25%
