Team or Function Overview

The right candidate will be invited to join the Savannah Plant team and continue a legacy of over 50 years of successful operations in this location. We operate two production lines that produce shingles and rolled roofing products for both commercial and residential applications.

Summary

The Logistics Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and reporting various logistic activities including inter-unit transfer orders (IUTs), return material authorizations (RMAs), cycle counts, preparing freight claims and other key processes as assigned by the Logistics Supervisor.

The Logistics Coordinator II is a key liaison between the plant, sales, supply chain planning, transportation, and customer service. Support production planning by tracking raw materials (currently railcars but not limited to) and notifying the production planner of potential issues such as late arrivals or shortages. The incumbent supports the overall logistics department and serves as backup for other positions within the department including Shipping Supervisor, Driver Services Coordinator, and others as needed.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that all shipments are dispatched in an accurate and timely manner to meet all customer demand on a daily basis, shared with the Traffic Coordinator.

  • Work effectively as a team member within the Logistics Department. Manage and distribute daily logistics reports to internal stakeholders. Actively engage in a positive manner to implement, support, monitor, and achieve Supply Chain metrics and goals.

  • Work with customer care to ensure sufficient inventory is available to meet customer shipments. Manage and distribute Negative Available to Promise reports (ATP). Collaborate with Customer Care and Distribution Planning Group regarding inventory shortages and potential solutions.

  • Track and analyze cycle count performance routinely, at all locations under Savannah purview. Ensure all products are counted at least one time during the quarter, shared with the Shipping Supervisor and Supply Chain Manager.

  • Prepare pick tickets daily to optimize loading times. Monitor and research causes of shipping errors and related issues, as necessary.

  • Identify and implement process improvements that reduce cost and improve customer service.

  • Cross train and act as backup for the Shipping Supervisor and Drivers Services coordinator, and sometimes Production Planner.

  • Covers for Supervisor and Driver Services Coordinator, as well as others as needed

  • Manage cycle counts and ensure inventory accuracy

  • Directs warehouse employees to ensure shuttles are adequate and efficient

  • Drives GAF Business System (GBS) initiatives with an emphasis on Safety.

  • Manage retail orders via their Transportation Management System (TMS)

  • Occasionally assists with Department and Plant Safety Training.

  • Four year degree in similar discipline preferred.

  • Or High School Diploma or equivalent with 3 or more years of work experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or military industry

  • Ability to work weekends and holidays when needed.
