Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Maintenance Planner provides a safe operating environment by planning installation, maintenance, and repair of machines, tools, equipment and utility systems. The Maintenance Planner works with the Maintenance Supervisor in developing the scheduled maintenance programs for the production facility to minimize impact on production. The Planner pre-evaluates the need for replacement parts and places orders. They plan for interruptions/short stops during normal machine run-time and develop back-up plans to minimize interruptions for the production facility.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Minimum of 3 years Industrial or Manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Certification from a Technical College preferred

  • Must be able to read instructions, blue prints and manuals, and use any meters, hand tools and shop equipment to perform and plan the required job tasks.

  • Must be able to perform millwright work such as aligning a pump and motor, install sheaves, belts, align equipment, check for proper alignment and belt tension.

  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and repair/replace of mechanical power transmission, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, welding and assembly of parts and materials.

  • Familiar with PLC systems including ability to troubleshoot process control ladder logic.

  • Familiar with troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs). Perform preventive and predictive maintenance assignments.

  • Work with other members of the maintenance department on mechanical and electrical projects, work orders and line calls.

  • Must have a good safety and attendance record, and be willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

  • Ability to work any shift (days, nights, weekends) as needed or on a rotating schedule.

Preferred Skills:

  • A working knowledge of 480v systems and their respective controls, ability to use and read multimeter.

  • Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix Controllers / RSLogix 5000 Software a definite plus.

  • Ability to operate a manual mill and lathe.

  • NFPA 70e Certificate preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

70% Maintenance Planning

  • Receive and investigate all maintenance work order requests.

  • Review each work order for scope of work, location, equipment, priority, charge numbers, coding, and authorization.

  • Secures needed blueprints, drawings, safety procedures, etc., for each work order.

  • Consults with other members of the Maintenance Department when their expertise is needed.

  • Determines the best way to accomplish each work order and creates a job package showing. (sequence of steps, number of maintenance and support personnel needed, as well as materials, supplies, tools, and equipment needed.)

  • Works directly with the Stores Clerk for the delivery of any needed materials and/or equipment to the plant.

  • Estimates the cost of each work order in terms of labor and materials.

  • Communicates with department managers if any work orders cannot be scheduled within the prescribed priority lead-time.

  • Reviews all completed work orders for accuracy, edits and applies correct historical data.

  • Develops multiple reports (Requestors, Craft completions, Work Type (PM, REM, Safety, etc.) based from Maximo/CMMS database input.

  • Participate in all planning meetings for down days, shutdowns, and expected short-stops.

  • Maintains the backlog file of work orders awaiting scheduling according to their priority limits, with an estimated completion date.

  • Maintains an up-to-date listing of work orders that could be completed during an unexpected short-stop and year-end shutdown.

  • Develops a daily maintenance work schedule that includes preventive maintenance work.

  • Reviews the estimate of the current day’s schedule status and forecast of labor availability on a daily basis.

  • Plans a full day’s work for each mechanic and electrician on a daily basis. Issues and discusses the schedule and quality of work with area supervisors.

  • Coordinates the requisition of all predetermined parts, materials, and special tools, and ensures that needed equipment will be available and ready.

  • Arranges for any safety procedures such as pre-job inspections and fire watches.

30% General Maintenance

  • Provide general maintenance support and PM’s of equipment for the Statesboro ISO Plant. This includes troubleshooting, working from blueprints and schematics as related to machine drives and conveying systems in a high production line environment.

  • Read instructions, blue prints and manuals, and use any meters, hand tools and shop equipment to perform the required job tasks. Perform millwright work such as aligning a pump and motor, install sheaves, belts, align equipment, check for proper alignment and belt tension. Troubleshoot, repair/replace power transmission, pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Perform all phases of welding including MIG Rod. Work on pipe systems, which would involve repairing, modifying, and installing systems. Familiar with PLC systems including ability to troubleshoot process control ladder logic. Familiar with troubleshooting variable frequency drives (VFDs).

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance assignments. Work with other members of the maintenance department on mechanical and electrical projects, work orders and line calls. Must have a good safety and attendance record, and be willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

  • Involved in planned and unplanned maintenance work and jobs for both daily and maintenance outages.

  • Participate in safety, continuous improvement, and 5S initiatives. Provide a safe workplace through adherence to company safety policy, housekeeping and defined standards of training. Stay in compliance with safety policies and procedures, conduct inspections of plant areas, and ensure deficiencies are resolved or appropriately communicated. Continue to grow, becoming well trained, involved, and committed to meeting department expectations including following all safety requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
