GAF Maintenance Technician in Statesboro, Georgia

Job Description:

GAF, America’s largest roofing manufacturer, has an opening for an experienced Maintenance Technician at our Statesboro ISO Plant. The Maintenance Technician provides general maintenance support and performs PM’s of equipment on the Production Line.

This includes troubleshooting, working from blueprints and schematics as related to machine drives and conveying systems in a high production line environment. Must be willing to work 12 hour shifts, nights, weekends and a rotating schedule.

Required Skills:

  • The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED.

  • A minimum of 3 years industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience required.

  • The candidate must be able to read instructions, blue prints and manuals, and use any meters, hand tools and shop equipment to perform the required job tasks.

  • Perform millwright work such as aligning a pump and motor, install sheaves, belts, align equipment, check for proper alignment and belt tension.

  • Troubleshoot, repair/replace power transmission, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.

  • Perform all phases of welding including MIG, and Rod. Work on pipe systems, which would involve repairing, modifying, and installing systems.

  • Familiar with PLC systems including ability to troubleshoot process control ladder logic.

  • Familiar with trouble shooting variable frequency drives (VFDs). Perform preventive and predictive maintenance assignments.

  • Work with other member of the maintenance department on mechanical and electrical projects, work orders and line calls.

  • Must have a good safety and attendance record, and be willing to work overtime and weekends when necessary.

Preferred Skills:

  • In addition to the required skills above, the successful candidate will likely have 5 years of industrial maintenance experience in troubleshooting and repair of mechanical power trains, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, welding and assembly of parts and materials.

  • The successful candidate should have a working knowledge of 480v systems and their respective controls, ability to use and read multimeter.

  • Experience with Allen Bradley ControlLogix Controllers / RSLogix 5000 Software a definite plus.

  • He or she should have the ability to operate a manual mill and lathe.
