Summary

The Buyer will perform purchasing activities in support of plant operations, ensuring cost-effective sourcing of raw materials and finished goods to meet demand and quality standards, overseeing procurement activities with a focus on strategic procurement of Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) services and supplies.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Vendor Management: Identify, evaluate and develop relationships with suppliers and service providers. Negotiate favorable terms, including pricing, delivery and service level agreements. Conduct thorough supplier assessments, considering factors such as quality, cost, lead times and reliability.

  • Cost Control: Monitor and analyze MRO spend, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality. Drive service improvements.

  • Inventory Management: Maintain an efficient MRO inventory system, minimizing excess stock and ensuring timely availability of critical supplies. Monitor Vendor Managed Inventory and maximize value through established agreements.

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies through input from Plant Stakeholders to ensure reliability and minimize downtime. Establish purchase orders as appropriate.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance, operations, transportation, manufacturing, Corporate Purchasing and finance teams to align procurement with organizational objectives. As needed, work with accounting, receiving and quality control departments to resolve any problems that might arise over material delivery discrepancies and/or receiving problems, past dues, invoice and quality issues.

  • QualityAssurance:CollaboratewiththeQualityControlteamtoensurematerials meet or exceed quality standards.

  • Review JDA (MRP System) requirements for the purchase of raw materials as needed.

  • Be able to work in a team environment.

  • Maintainappropriatedocumentationandfilesforallpurchasesmade.

  • Develop goals and objectives in line with Corporate Purchasing Goals and Objectives. Partner with Corporate Purchasing for administration of major raw material purchases.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, sit, use hands to finger objects or controls, reach with hands or arms, occasionally is required to walk, or to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific visual ability required is the ability to adjust focus.

  • High School Diploma

  • 3 years of experience in Procurement or related experience in Supply Chain

  • Proficiency with computers and proven experience utilizing computers in daily work

  • Excellentoralandwrittencommunicationskills

  • Demonstrated experience working in a customer-focused and multi-functional team environment
