Summary:

GAF Corporate EHS is looking for a Director of Industrial Risk. This role will lead strategic initiatives and execute the Company's industrial risk, process safety, fire protection and life safety strategy to achieve our Vision Zero. The role will collaborate with other functions including but not limited to Research and Development, Engineering and Operations to execute the industrial risk strategy. This role will functionally partner with engineering teams to drive a systematic approach to address risk identification, mitigation, and management of safety solutions. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Environmental, Health, and Safety and have one direct report.

Essential Duties:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop strategy, policies, requirements, standards, and tools to structurally implement and continuously improve process safety.

  • Establish organizational goals based on gap analysis, prioritize, develop projects to achieve goals and sustain compliance with internal and government regulations.

  • Identifies and implements tools, methods, and key performance indicators to support and measure compliance with policies and progress against objectives of the risk management system.

  • Established industrial management system processes specific to GAF.

  • Inform and advise Senior Management regarding compliance status and issues, potential risks and liabilities, future impacts from new laws and rules, recommended actions and risk management strategy.

  • Embed a industrial risk process at facilities and develop local knowledge.

  • Support facilities when interface is required with local regulatory agencies as it related to PSM.

  • Assists GAF in the execution of their Operational Risk Management duties.

  • Provide oversight to MOC by maintaining and auditing MOC and Pre-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR) records and procedures.

  • Develops and maintains a communication system to inform employees of risk management policies, objectives, and results.

  • Conducts technical audits, identifies risks, recommends to operational teams the actions necessary to lessen risks, and ensures the implementation of those actions.

  • Plans and coordinates preliminary risk assessment reviews during the project approval phase.

  • Participates in the key safety reviews for new projects and verifies that the Risk Management activities have been implemented.

  • Ensure sufficient PSM training processes and tools are available and implemented throughout GAF.

  • Ensures thorough investigations/reviews are performed for all process safety related incidents.

  • Implements a feedback process to capitalize on the experiences of major and recurring incidents and to develop actions to address them.

  • Mentor EHS professionals in industrial risk and process safety matters.

Under This Roof, We Require :

  • Bachelor’s degree inChemicalorPetroleumEngineering or another engineering-related field with relevant experience.

  • Five+ years of management of others.

  • 10 years experience with emphasis on process safety management.

  • Five Years of combined experience performing risk assessments/analysis techniques such as: Process Hazard Assessment (PHA), Layers of Protection (LOPA), and Risk Assessments & Prioritization (RAP).

  • Experience and understanding of process engineering work such as safety relief demand scenarios, and basic function of asphaltic unit operations is required

  • Experience with chemical processing equipment and facilities.

  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to effectively adapt to changing needs and priorities while maintaining a positive attitude with a focus on client success.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that are leveraged to build relationships and trust with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage multiple projects.

  • Must have excellent organizational, written and oral communication, listening and presentation skills including the ability to effectively present and discuss technical information and respond to questions from employees, government agency representatives, and customers.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite Office.

Consideration will be given based on geography, candidate experience, and qualifications.

Annual Salary Range: 153,000-195,500
